International Obama Supporters Say, "Thanks America - We Needed a Change!"

When Obama won the election, I knew that a lot of people in other countries all over the world were celebrating. One of my friends in the Netherlands sent a touching post, and I couldn't miss the news coverage of all the parties.

I kind of missed the boat on how this affected me as an artist and clothes designer, though! That was . . . until my biggest sale. Normally, I get excited if I sell anything. If one person buys two or three products from my store, then I am ready to jump for joy. Imagine how thrilled I was when an Australian woman purchased more than five products! She basically bought every variation of the "Thanks, America - I Needed a Change!" message. Out of respect to her privacy, of course I won't write her name, but I wish I could write a big THANK YOU across the sky for this Aussie lady. Aussie lady, I hope you are very happy with the stuff you bought for Little Democrats down under.

So, I am writing this blog for any other Obama supporters around the world who would like to Thank America for voting for the right president. Cafepress, the company that actually prints the T-shirts and products with my artwork, have recently made their websites even more friendly to international customers. If you click in the little area at the very top right of my store, you can see the prices in current British pounds, Canadian dollars, or Australian dollars. And they are all set up to handle sales to Canada, the UK, and Australia - with tailored payment and shipping procedures in place for you.

Here are pictures of some of my pro-Obama products. JUST CLICK ANY PICTURE TO BUY NOW. You can also check out the Political Section of my store for other great Obama baby clothes and T-shirts for toddlers, kids, and families.

Obama Honeymoon isn't over! Show support for Barack with T-shirts

I can't be the only person annoyed by the media's constant use of the catchphrase: "Is the Obama honeymoon over?" You can hear some of Jon Stewart's thoughts about the Obama Honeymoon here.

When I got married, my husband was very fond of telling people, "The Honeymoon doesn't have to end!" Granted, I think he was focusing on more than that feeling of being flooded with hope and happiness . . . Patrick probably was reluctant to give up the unlimited, free supply of champagne that was provided to us on our honeymoon in Jamaica.

BUT if my somewhat cynical husband could show such a readiness to hold on to hopeful affection, then American Democrats should be able to show continued support for Obama. There's no question that our country is in trouble. That doesn't mean we can't still show love for our leader. Let Obama (and everyone else) see that we are excited about all his unique strengths, and that we have faith he CAN help us make things better.

One way to show support could be to wear one of my original T-shirts. (Obviously, you can send this message in other ways, too!) I wish I had gotten them ready in time for Valentine's Day, but it's never too late to support President Obama. In fact, now that the dancing in the streets has stopped and it seems to be becoming trendy to focus on economic Armageddon, it may be the perfect time to dare to be happy.

There's even a pillow for those of you who want to dream of Obama bringing about a better tomorrow!

Show some love for Obama this Valentine's Day

With all this weird media talk about a honeymoon, it seems only appropriate to me to show Obama some love this Valentine's Day! If he's gonna have to put up with the weird analogies, he should at least get our support. My original designs for baby, kids, juniors, men, women, plus size, and maternity clothes are one way to show our President you care! CLICK ANY PICTURE TO BUY NOW!

Inspired by the Inauguration? Baby Clothes that say Little by Little, Yes We Can!

Little Characters is proud to offer another unique phrase on baby and toddler clothes: "Little by Little, Yes We Can!" It looks especially appropriate when it's matched with my original drawing of a child crawling in the Obama logo.

Yesterday was such an inspiring day. I was still in some pain from my wisdom teeth operation, but as soon as I managed to get Obama on my laptop, I forgot about everything else . . . well, my son did his best to get involved by gleefully typing on the keyboard and insisting that the speech needed a background soundtrack ("Wubba Wubba" sung by Grover several times). But all that just made me feel like it was a real day and not some fake political moment.

Just about everything Obama said touched me. I kept thinking, "He's our president? Really? We get to have him?" It's so exciting to have a leader who seems so thoughtful. I don't know quite how so many people decided that conservatives have a monopoly on values; I'm proud to say that I'm a liberal who votes based on values. It feels so good to have someone with such fine character leading the way.

I watched the inauguration speech on the CNN broadcast with Facebook, so I got to see some of my friends writing about their reactions as it happened. I wasn't the only one getting teary-eyed. I really loved his line about parents making a difference for the country by choosing to nurture their kids. As important and demanding as parenting is, I'm not sure it's on the same level with the heroism of firefighters. But after teaching public school, I know for sure that America is a whole lot better every time a parent consistently cares for a child. When that doesn't happen, it takes a lot of people to try to do enough good to make up for it.

I was pretty annoyed by the Starbucks commercial at the end of the CNN/Facebook broadcast, and I remember thinking it was very tacky. But I guess I'm going to be equally tacky now and use this as a forum for sharing my designs.

Obama Babies are Crawling with Hope in Cute Onesies

I am very excited about the last batch of designs for baby clothes I put on my store, Little Characters. The onesies, T-shirts, and bibs are all under $20. If you're looking for an original outfit for your Little Democrat to wear on inauguration day, click any of these pictures to buy now.

These all feature Little Character's original message: "Crawling with Hope".

I think my husband was the one who came up with that particular phrase when we were brainstorming designs. He's quite the punny guy. I love the message, because it has two ideas that are really valuable. First, it suggests that kids are absolutely full of (crawling with) hope. I think a lot of us feel like we're just filled to the brim with good feeling about our new president, and I'm proud to have a design that captures that feeling. The second idea is that we're moving forward slowly and carefully (crawling toward a brighter future). I know that Obama isn't offering a quick fix and that we'll be working hard together, so anything that inspires us to do that is worthwhile in my mind.

I Love Our President: Clothes for the Whole Family to Support Obama

I just added a couple new designs to my online store, Little Characters in time for the inauguration on January 20th! These T-shirts say I Love Our President with a heart shaped Obama logo.

Unlike Colbert, I don't have an advent calendar to count down the days with medicated treats, but I am counting them down in my own way. I've been busy creating my last group of political designs. Hopefully, some people will be able to find my political T-shirts and baby clothes soon.

Normally, I focus on drawing my own style of baby cartoons, but I've been trying to branch out. My latest designs are text only and any Democrat in the family can wear them: Obama Mamas, Babies for Barack . . . even the dog! Click on any picture to buy now.

This design was another one that I got to work more collaboratively on with my husband. He was the one who figured out how to get the "glowy effect" on the rising sun in the Obama logo, and he helped me create the Obama Logo heart. He seemed pretty proud of our final product, and I think he should be!

Obama Baby Onesies for the Inauguration

Little Characters,, my online store, has a great selection of Political onesies, T-shirts, and bibs for your Little Democrat.

What will your Obama Baby be wearing on January 20th? Click on any of the pictures below and you can buy an adorable onesie for the inauguration. It's a whole lot cuter than a bumper sticker!

Only $18.99! Choose from several skin tones and hair and eye colors for every design.

Your choice of white, pink, or blue onesie. T-shirts are also available in pastel yellow.

You can email me at drawnbyk@gmail.com and I'll write the message of your choice on any design for free.

At 17 months old, I don't think my son qualifies as a baby anymore. Honestly, I don't really think he's a toddler either, because he doesn't toddle anymore: he runs! But he will be wearing one of my T-shirts when Obama is sworn in. I want to do something special to celebrate with him, but I haven't come up with any ideas yet. Please write a comment if you have any suggestions! :D
